If Laurell K Hamilton's books and Pablo Picasso's paintings had a baby, that would be my paranormal/urban fantasy novels. Vampires and shapeshifters with some crazy on the wall.
I love to read. I think a good story has some mystery, some romance, and makes you want to read from start to finish in one sitting. I love all kinds of music and my iTunes playlist is on shuffle constantly or I have Pandora stations to listen to depending on what I'm writing. I've been working in public education for the last 24 years and have tried to inspire the next generation of readers and writers. HAPPY READING!
What is one of your proudest moments as a writer?
My first book signing and sitting on a writer's panel at Crypticon Seattle Horror Convention. It was the moment I felt like I was a 'real' author. However, now that I've been doing this for a while and have published four novels, I feel proud about my published novels, I feel proud of the 20 WIPs saved on my computer, I feel proud every time I sit down and get another page written, I feel proud every time I edit and revise a WIP. There are so many steps to being an author and all the ones before get us to the publish stage. It's a long journey and I try to make sure I acknowledge and am proud of all the steps along the way.
Who is your favorite author, and why?
Right now, if I had to pick ONE favorite author, I would say Lucy Score. I have read everything she's written. She's so great and writes small town romance the best.
What lead you to becoming a writer?
When I was a kid, I talked ALL THE TIME, so being told to write down my stories started it all. I had an amazing dad who read all the time and he also encouraged me to write as well. My teachers were a huge influence in my life and the reason I became a teacher and also a writer. I don't think I can really pinpoint one particular instance; it was more just having the 'perfect storm' of outside influences who told me I could do whatever I set my mind to. So I did.
